Baby the Stars Shine Bright A/W 2024 Show at New York Fashion Week

I had the lucky opportunity to attend Baby, the Stars Shine Bright (BTSSB) Fashion Show at New York Fashion Week hosted by Global Fashion Collective. For the record, I was one of the lucky few that got selected via Baby SF's lottery as a Designer Guest and it was not a personal invitation lol. I was not sure if I would be selected, I kinda entered as a joke but with the invitation and persuasion of my spouse we planned the trip and flew out!

Having recently received the Gothakumya pochette in the mail (whom I've now named after the Hindu Goddess Kali), I decided to channel that same energy and based my coord off of her. Overall, I really loved how my coord came together and it really gave big goth Interview with a Vampire Claudia vibes. I wanted to be able to showcase my own personal style while repping BTSBB.

Here is the coord breakdown:

JSK: BTSSB Velveteen Babydoll JSK in Red x Black

Head Accessories: Matching Princess Drop headdress + Juvy.vette Rabbit headdress

Socks: Moi Meme Moitie

Coat: BTSSB Scallop Short Jacket

Shoes: Q-Pot Chocolate Drip Combat Boots in Black

I decided to pair the look with some gyaru-style eye make (go big or go home). I tried to do heatless curls overnight but they were unsuccessful so I spent some time doing flat-iron curls.

I have to admit, the hour-long wait to get into the show as well as the seating arrangements (I think they underestimated how much volume lolitas take up!) was a bit of a downside to the show. I understand that this is Baby's second or third official fashion show here in the US and in combination with all the other shows happening at Chelsea Industrial I think delays were to be expected. Overall it was still a wonderful show and I hope to attend more!

While I was seated pretty close to the beginning of the Runway, I was in the second row so these are not the best photos! Now onto the actual show itself!

Their iconic sweet style! Featuring some prints and non-prints!

The Classical Series! While these are classic colors, BTSSB has been introducing new colors for their classical series so I'm excited to see these releases!

Some fairytale influenced designs. The Snow White design in the middle and right was one of my first introductions to BTSSB.

The Strawberry Embroidery twins were so cute! I absolutely love this design. Looks like they will also re-release Sugar Bouquet. I have given in and purchased a second-hand Sugar Bouquet jsk in black so I am joining the crowd lol

I got big Alice in Wonderland vibes from this particular group of looks!

The Elizabeth JSK cut is so gorgeous! I hope they rerelease it in Black x Black (or even a Red x Black maybe???).

I love how these prints encompass spring time in the countryside! The pink x yellow and lavender x yellow dress reminded me of lemonade and the red dress felt like BTSSB's take on the Pink House style!

The off-the-shoulder JSK was such a gorgeous design, I can see it being worn in an OTT style as well as a more casual daily look.

I believe this was the half-way point of the fashion. With the later half of the show I started seeing a hime/bridal tone to the dresses, perfect for a special occasion or if you want to go OTT. Also the middle dress (while a bad photo) reminded me heavily of Sailor Moon's Princess Serenity.

Big Marie Antoinette vibes from the dress on the left. I also appreciate the blouse-less looks that BTSSB has put into this show.

Some Wa-Lolita looks! It looks like they'll be rereleasing their SA*KU*RA series that is perfect for the upcoming Cherry Blossom season.

I love how ethereal these dresses were on the models. Again, showing a bit of shoulder with these looks!

Some frilly OTT looks reminiscent of 18th century period dresses

I believe the left dress is actually a Hatsune Miku collaboration MTO? Left and middle had an interesting take on combining different prints and textures.

I really adore the colored lace on these pieces. It's such a beautiful and airy contrast to the white. I would love to see some of these dresses in a black fabric with colored laces. I think this is a style that should be expanded on in the future!

Lastly, they finished off the show with what I call the Usakumya Bridal Collection. And the matching dresses for the Usakumya pochettes? Forget carrying a bouquet down the aisle, carry your Usakumya instead (it'll last longer lol).

What are my favorites? I personally love the embroidery dresses so much and think that it defines the current era of BTSSB. The strawberry embroidery JSK from the beginning of the show is so cute! I can't wait for that release and what other colorways it comes in.

Overall, the show showcased the more sweet and classic side of BTSSB which is a little out of my style range so there were not many dresses that were mega-wants for me. Some of the rerelease pieces I would want to get second-hand as a personal buying habit unless they release a unique and new colorway that interests me.

What do you think? Any favorites? What did you like or dislike about this show?
