Wow, I never thought I would be blogging in 2024 but here we are. Usually most blogs would open up with an introduction to the blogger but I'm not going to do that (yet). Instead I am going to open up with my Lolita Wardrobe because I have actually put work in it and taken photos already. It should be a very easy starter post because to be truthful, I have never blogged before outside the quick blips on IG and I tend to keep it minimal.
This is, what I feel, my first formal wardrobe featuring pieces that are genuinely my personal style. I have started the fashion in 2016 but did not feel like I tapped into what I liked and looked good on me until 2018 or so. Of course 2020 rolled around and with that I had really begun to build my wardrobe.
Well without further notice, lets go ahead and start looking through my wardrobe! I will be breaking it down by substyle/theme starting with:
Bittersweet
Is Bittersweet its own substyle or is it just black colorway sweet? Not here to argue, it's just the description that fits. I do adore pastel colors but I just don't wear enough of it to go crazy with sweet. Black colorways makes it so much easier to coord in the different substyles I do.
(From Left to Right)
Angelic Pretty - Candy Petit Heart JSK, The Angelic Forest - Magical Mushrooms
Kuro
Most of my pure kuro pieces tend to lean old-school. There's just something about all black old-school that just seems like perfection to me.
BTSSB - Millefeuille JSK (2021), BTSSB - Ribbon Scallop JSK (2023), BTSSB - Ribbon Milky Sugar JSK (2022), Metamorphose Temps de Fille - Stella OP
Fine Aged (kinda) Wine
Some of my most coveted pieces. Something about Black x Red hits differently. The Mushroom OP is one of my oldest pieces in my wardrobe back when I was a mycology intern. The Beating Heart JSK made my heart stop when I found it on Closet Child. I remember seeing this dress in a scan and thought it was going to be a pipe dream.
BTSSB - Velveteen Babydoll JSK, Putumayo - Forest Mushroom OP, Angelic Pretty - Beating Heart JSK
Comfy Sack Dresses
The comfiest shape is no shape. Does this also fall under my spooky dresses? The Special Set Halloween Treats OP is the best colorway of the series and it also glows under UV light!
Angelic Pretty - Holy Lantern OP, Alice and the Pirates - Round 'n' Round Bandage and Meow Meow Hide and Seek OP, Angelic Pretty - Halloween Treats OP
Comfy Cutsew Dresses
Continuing with my spooky themed dresses, I love cutsew dresses for how comfy and casual they can be!
Angelic Pretty - Little Witch Cutsew OP, Angelic Pretty - Marshmallow Ghost Cutsew OP, Angelic Pretty - Angelic Bat Cutsew OP
Bitter Chocolate
I think I started chocolate lolita in 2021? I loved Melty Royal Chocolate so much that I had to get it in different cuts. I also want more of Angelic Pretty's Chocolate Jacquard pieces.
BTSSB - Strawberry Loves Chocolate JSK I, Angelic Pretty - Melty Royal Chocolate JSK, Angelic Pretty - Royal Creamy Chocolate JSK, Angelic Pretty - Melty Royal Chocolate Low-Waist JSK
Port
Building off of my chocolate side, what feels like the sweetest of my wardrobe. Tricky Nightmare Factory is the favorite out of this group. Some spooky but also chocolatey!
Angelic Pretty - Nakayoshi Ginger Cookie JSK, Angelic Pretty - Chocolate Rosette Collared JSK, Angelic Pretty - Half-eaten Biscuit JSK, Alice and the Pirates - Tricky Nightmare Factory JSK II
Port (Skirts)
Skirts for more casual looks. Classic Fairy Tales is also an oldie in my wardrobe as a mycology nerd. I really hope to find the OP or JSK version of it someday!
Alice and the Pirates - Chris's Sweets Factory, Angelic Pretty - Chocolate Rosette, Angelic Pretty - Classic Fairy Tales
Well that sums up my wardrobe since the close of 2023. I have indeed purchased some new pieces since this post but omitted them such that I can categorize them for next year's wardrobe post (if I still want to do that). Perhaps I may do a thorough look into the rest of my wardrobe later on as well (or next year lol).
